What is motivation and why do I need it?
Motivation is a source of inspiration that refills your cup when you are feeling half-full. Motivation is a fuel that drives you towards specific goals or outcomes.
You may even have noticed a pattern within yourself when your will to do something is non-existent and virtually depleted.
That’s alright to feel this way and acknowledge that you need resources to help refill that cup of yours. Since, the brain is very lazy in helping to refill our cups.
You see, as long as we are surviving safely and reproducing our brains are quite happy with the way things are going.
When it comes to challenging tasks like learning to drive a standard car or studying introductory economics, the brains drags its metaphoric feet since these tasks are not essential to survival.
You may feel strong emotions such as: self-doubt, fear, discomfort, and vulnerability. These emotions are flooding your brain because it wants you to stop bothering it and start lazing around.
If you stop and laze around though you’ll never get to accomplish your goals or to change unwanted behaviours.
We all have a threshold as to how much we can take. The reason why you need to regularly find new sources of inspiration is because motivation does decrease overtime.
Have you ever felt so inspired by an idea one week only to have no motivation to complete the goal the following week?
For example, being on a weight loss journey. The results are not instant by any means, so you constantly have to replenish your motivational supply when you don’t want to wake up at 6am to workout.
